Accessible childcare facilities are essential for both staff and students. Such facilities enable new mothers and fathers on parental leave to attend campus meetings, university courses and group study activities outside the home on an equal footing with everyone else.

Accessible childcare facilities are essential for both staff and students. Such facilities enable new mothers and fathers on parental leave to attend campus meetings, university courses and group study activities outside the home on an equal footing with everyone else.

Aalborg University Library at Kroghstræde 3, for example, has a combined children's play area, a lounge for meetings and a student lunch area. The latter is a fully equipped kitchenette with a fridge and microwave that can be used to heat baby food. The room is appropriately named "Pippi" after the famous fictional character Pippi Longstocking - the beloved heroine of a series of children's books by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. 
  
Pippi can be found in the library in room 5.111 and the baby changing facility in room 4.123.
