Links to picture databases

Below you will find links to picture and image databases from which it is possible to use the images. The individual works in the databases will indicate under which rights they can be used.
 

Picture databases

  • Skyfish

    Skyfish is AAU's picture archive. Most of the pictures are taken by employees at Aalborg University, and most of them are free to use. Access requires login. Please contact Søren Emil Søe Degn, sed@adm.aau.dk at to become a user.

  • Colourbox

    With AAU's school license for Colourbox, you have full access to over 25 million images, illustrations, and videos, and you have 30 free downloads per month. Create a profile via ITS-AAU.

  • Open Clip Art Library

    Founded in 2004, Open Clipart is an online media collection of more than 160 000 vectorial graphics, entirely in the public domain.

  • Pixabay

    Stunning royalty-free images & royalty-free stock. Over 4 million+ high quality stock images, videos and music shared by our talented community.

  • PxHere

    All photos on PxHere are licensed under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. This means the pictures are completely free to be used for any legal purpose.

  • Flickr

    Find your inspiration. Join the Flickr community, home to tens of billions of photos and 2 million groups.

  • StockSnap.io

    Beautiful Free Stock Photos. New CC0 images added daily, free from copyright restrictions.

  • Google image search

    When you conduct an image search, you must select “search tools” and the “rights”. Then you can select which type of license you are interested in. However, always remember to check the source of the image.

  • unDraw

    Create better designed websites, products and applications. Browse to find the images that fit your messaging, automagically customise the color to match your brand and use it as a normal image, embedded code or directly in your design workflow.

    Unsplash. The internet’s source for visuals. Powered by creators everywhere.

  • Nationalmuseet

    Our objects and photographs come from all over the world, and cover many periods. So at the National Museum you can find everything from the famous Golden Horns and the Egtved Girl to African masks and Egyptian mummies.

  • Det Kgl. Bibliotek's digital collections

    Dive into a selection of our digital collections, which include images, printed materials, manuscripts, maps, rare books, and much more.

  • Europeana

    Europeana is a large European portal with digitized paintings, museum objects, etc. from the European cultural- and research institutions. Check each individual work to see what is permitted.

  • SMK OPEN / National Gallery of Denmark

    Explore a number of pictures that belong to the public domain, and as such can be shared, modified, and used for all purposes, even commercial.

  • Microsoft Bing Image Creator

    Image Creator is a product that helps users generate AI images using DALL·E. When you provide a text prompt, our AI generates a set of images that match the given prompt.
